New Posting

Greetings to all!

I have not posted for such a long time, I have to get with it and stop thinking about this blog in the sense of my old web page that I only updated every 6 months or so.

Maybe it is because I do not think I have much to contribute, but I must shake myself from this mindset it is not healthy.

Ok, my locs are doing great.  I took some pics last month that came out pretty good I will post a few of them.  I am really loving these shorter, smaller locs.  I am finding that I really love the shake & go look.  Locs doing whatever they want to especially with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of unlocked hair at the scalp.  So cool and freeing.  Well, I have decided about the whether I want to dye my hair or not.  The decision NOT.  Once I gave it some more thought and listened to a few video clips of the VideoLoctician, I decided it is too much work.  I will have to keep up the dyeing of the roots.  I know I would have to get my friend Karen to do it for me and though I know it would be fine with her.  I know that I would want to do it myself eventually and that is when something would go wrong. :-)

Besides what color would i want it to be and why am I doing it.  Is it to look younger or prettier.  I am learning that I have to accept my age and carry on until GOD says my days here are over. Ok..I could say I am doing it for myself, but again why.  What is it that I need to portray to others about me, that I take it to another level by dyeing my hair. Maybe this whole hair thing is just vanity run wild.  Now there is a thought that I have not had in a long while. Maybe all of this is just that vanity.  Yes, it may be vanity but this started with acceptance of my natural self way back in the year 2000.  The way GOD has made me and my complete acceptance of that fact.  So no to dyeing my hair, right now it is time for me to be grey headed.  I do and will embrace that as I have embraced my natural hair.  Ok.. decision completely made and final.

Blessings to you all until next time which should be a few days.

Pictures in June 2010

I spent a large amount of time taking loads of pictures on my mini cam. I am learning that I may need to get a video camera to get the detail I would like to see in these photos. As with everything in my life, I learn how to make due until I can change things. So I decided to play with the pics a little.

These pics above are me just playing around, I love this length. I really can not do too much with it. I can do a small head band. I stick a few large bobby pins in the sides of my hair sometimes to get a different look. As you can see my sides are pretty long so I play them up as much as possible. I really love this length for my locs this is a true shake, fluff, and go length. It can not get better than this. I spritz in the mornings, use my brush to set them in my normal or daily style, apply make up & go.

The locs on the sides are pretty long the rear is ok also. I think I have a few locs that are longer than others but that is ok too. I have many locs with frizzy ends and I have many locs with locked ends, so I am not really anxious or fretting about getting my locs all even and everything. I probably will try to even them out in 2011 my two year anniversary; then I will be a mature locker. In the meantime, I am letting the locs do what they do. I am even enjoying the interlocking. At first I was not into it, but it is growing on me. I can no longer finger loc like I did with my first set it usually took me a few hours to retightened and I was done. With the micro locs being in sizes from very small to small it is taking me a few evenings to get them all done. I have to count my locs to see how many their are. My first set was about 150 locs, these are 200 plus i will get the number and post it in my profile so that I can stop saying I do not know. LOL

I have been trying to decide whether I should; shampoo first and retighten or retighten first then shampoo. Well, during the summer when shampooing hair is an every week ability. (Oh, this is my favorite time of the year.) Anyway, I find if I shampoo my hair because, I am still new to this or maybe i am just a perfectionist. It does take me a while to interlock my hair. Since I have found that if I retighten then shampoo my hair actually loosens up with the shampooing. So to keep my hair tightened for more than one week; on the week that I retighten after my shampoo I wait one week before I shampoo again. It seems to be working well for me, since it takes me at least three days to retighten the week is half gone by the time I am finished, so I wait the additional week and enjoy the tightened roots for another week. As most of you know, you have to make this journey work for you. I am not stumbling but I am definitely rethinking some things that will work for me. Since I have the experience of my 9 year 1st set of locs, this one seems easier for me. I am just learning to tweak the things that I know wait to get better at the retightening which is my only learning curb on this journey.

Well, I consider 28 July as my loc birthday or anniversary so I will be back in a month.

Blessings to you all!

Eight Months

Greetings All!

Well it is my 8th month mark. Changes I see are; my locs are more defined, there seems to be very little bunching (or maybe I am being more careful) and I am ecstatic that I no longer have to band my locs together when I shampoo. I think it is because of the 4B type and because it was already use to locking. In other words, I think, because my hair was already natural and use to locking that it just carried on. I do not have half the frizzies that I had when I first started this set in July. Although looking at the pic below shows frizzies; so I guess it is in the eye of the beholder. To me, they are not very frizzy but to you they may be. :-) It is not all locked, the top & sides are very loose (probably because of the gray) but the locs in the back have stepped up and said I am locking. :-) Well the above is pre retightening, so no scalp but you can see the locs in the back and on the side. My mini cam is having me problems again, so I had to enlist the services of one of my work mates. I am now realizing that I am pretty much totally gray looking at these pics. There is some brown left but it seems to be in the minority. My best friend & I went to a choir workshop about a week or so ago she had been invited to be a workshop speaker and I was there for moral support. The choir was made up of college students so the oldest one was probably around 25. Karen & I sat on the right side of the church and the choir group sat in the middle section of the church. The main speaker was preaching; he had a blessed word, tell why did the man of GOD use an illustration in his sermon about Flip Wilson and then come to my side of the church and said to me, "Mother, you remember Flip Wilson don't you?". So I guess I have more gray hair than I have brown left. You know, I have never even thought about coloring my hair since I have been natural. I am now pondering it. I'll keep you posted.

My routine is so simple. I shampoo once a month, spring is here and once a week shampoos are on the horizon, yah. I use Suave clarifying diluted with water basically half water half shampoo, shampooing once with the Suave and then shampooing with a natural soap bar I purchased on line. One of my bosses recently went to Tahiti he has been bringing back a Tahiti soap bar as gifts for the office. I looked up the soap on From Nature With Love it says: Monoi de Tahiti is an extraordinary oil for skin and hair care. It has been shown to penetrate and hydrate the skin rapidly and reduce trans-epidermal water loss. Use Monoi oil in creams, lotion, soap and experiment with it in all of your formulations. This bar of soap is made from this oil, so I will include it in my regime this weekend. I have two bars so hopefully if it is as good as this states it should last me awhile or at least until he goes back. ;-)

Well I have reti most of my hair, shampooed with the water/clarifying shampoo mixture and shampooed twice with the Monoi de Tahiti soap. Fabulous, my hair is so soft to the touch even after I have added oil and conditioner spritz. It is now Tuesday and my hair feels great. I believe the Monoi de Tahiti soap is a keeper.

I have concocted a conditioning lotion or spritz for my hair, I made so much of it I had to freeze it. So I am defrosting it and using as needed. I have a few different oils in it, some honey, some conditioners, sweet orange eo and lots of water. I have been using this to spritz my hair in the mornings after my shower. I then brush and or comb my hair style and I am good to go. My hair normally stays in the style that I shape it in, unless I sweat it out, for the entire day. I am really loving this length, it is so easy to care for. Because these are micro locs I can use a wide tooth comb to comb or arrange my locs. I found my wide tooth comb when I was taking down my first set. I kept it handy and started combing my locs a few months after I started this set. It is kind of cool using a comb without the snags & tugs of pain I use to associate with a comb any comb. So if any of you wonderful people with micro locs would like to try it out, go ahead, it shouldn't hurt one bit. :-)

I do hope I will get a better schedule with my blogging.

Remember GOD loves you so much HE sent HIS Son to die for our sins. The greatest thing is that HE did not stay dead but HE has rose from the grave. That is what Resurrection Sunday is all about JESUS CHRIST rose from the grave! GOD has given JESUS CHRIST all things, all power & authority is in HIS hands; because HE rose from the grave you can rise from whatever circumstances you may find yourself in today. HE loves you so much learn to trust HIM, HE is faithful.

Many blessings to you until next time.

Greetings Everyone

Ok, I have been away for a bit. Many changes happening in my life right now, a few I can not share yet but I will once everything is in the final stages. The blessed elderly lady that was living with me decided to move in with her wonderful daughter. That basically has freed me up a bit, I became too caught up in her life. I have learned 2 lessons though, the first is not everyone is cut out to care for the elderly (I may be one). The second is get both sides of a story no matter how hard it is to ask the question, find a way to get the whole story. Enough said.

Well my date is 28 Jul 09 makes my locs 6 months old, I finally got around to taking pictures with my mini cam. The only progress I see is that a lot of the rear locs are locking, the length still seems the same to me and I am ok with it. I have been rocking my few winter hats. Some of the smaller hats I have not been able to get in since I started my first set. It is a good thing hat styles do not change too much and if they do I just bring them back to style. :-) When you are older you can do things like that, :-) . In either case as most of you know, in the USA it is cold. Now I really do not have it as bad as other parts of the country and for a couple of weeks we had 30 degree days & 20 degree nights. As for me, I do not even want to know what a minus anything feels like. Now many of you are like what is she going on about, that is not cold. You are probably right but since I love the other three seasons better than this current one hopefully you will understand even if you do not agree with my rant. I mainly put on the hats for self preservation. I simply love getting in the shower with nothing on my head. I do not even own a shower cap. Of course my love and practicality must come together, so I put on a hat and once on it does not come off all day. It becomes a part of whatever I am wearing. So here is how I rock my hats...

My best buddy (Karen) & I painted her son's kitchen. Now that was fun. He has an awning around two walls of his kitchen and the other two walls had panelling on them. His apartment is rented so we could not do any demolition, which is what we wanted to do, so we painted. We pre painted with KLIRG this stuff is great. It made the walls so white we had to apply 2 coats of paint to cover the premier. I did not realize that we both are perfectionists and that painting soothes you. She took pics I will get some from her to post.

Well that is it for now, many blessings to you I pray the first month of 2010 has been a good one for you.

Until next time, remember JESUS Christ is the only way to GOD the Father!

Happy New Year

Greetings & May GOD bless you all in this new year and new decade!

Well, my world has turned a bit and I have a few things going on. I have opened up my home to one of the elderly women in my church. To say the least I am going thur a transitional period, I am not really adjusting well. This definitely shows me where I am in HIM. It's not looking good. I am realizing that I am not all that nor am I even where I thought I was in HIM. Not good nor even comforting. I am grateful though, that GOD has allowed me to go through this just so I can see where I am in HIM. It is easy to be self righteous, to be assured of yourself and your standing in Christ JESUS. It is only when people, circumstances & situations rub you that you find out what you are made 0f. Are you HIS or are you memorex? I know that I need total and complete help from GOD the Father, GOD the Son & GOD the Holy Spirit. I have to be let by HIM, if I am not everything you see is fake. So my prayer for myself and truly all of us; is that we will not be deceived because of what we do or say for CHRIST. That GOD would help us each moment live for HIS glory, for we all know that only what is done for CHRIST will last. So everything that we do, let it be done for HIS glory and not our own. Let's live for HIM for real in 2010.

Many blessings & peace to you!
